China, UK to strengthen cooperation on climate as the Chinese Vice Premier held a meeting in Beijing.
Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang met with UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband, in Beijing on Monday, where both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration in tackling climate change.
Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that stable and mutually beneficial China-UK relations align with the interests of both nations, contribute to global economic growth, and support joint efforts to address international challenges.
China is willing to work closely with the UK to implement key agreements made by their leaders, sustain positive momentum in bilateral relations, and expand cooperation in financial services, trade, investment, and low-carbon development. Ding highlighted the importance of joint climate action to benefit both countries and the global community.
Miliband reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to fostering long-term, constructive ties with China. He expressed the UK government’s willingness to strengthen collaboration with China, particularly in energy security and climate change mitigation.
