Chinese national legislators put forward a total of 269 proposals during the country’s annual legislative session, with submissions closing at noon on Saturday. This marks the deadline for proposal submissions at the ongoing third session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC).
According to the session’s secretariat, more than 8,000 suggestions were also received from NPC deputies, highlighting a broad range of legislative concerns and policy recommendations.
Out of the 269 proposals, 268 focus on legislative matters, while one is related to oversight functions. The secretariat noted that these proposals mainly address legislation in crucial, emerging, and internationally significant fields.
The submitted suggestions span various key areas, such as enhancing consumer spending, leveraging artificial intelligence to spur economic growth, and ensuring the protection of private enterprises’ rights and interests.
The secretariat is currently reviewing the proposals and will prepare a report on their processing. This report will be presented to the session’s presidium for further deliberation.
