China to expand economic opening, attract foreign investment in 2025 prioritizing the service sector.
China plans to introduce additional measures in 2025 to further open its economy and attract foreign investment, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced on Wednesday.
MOC official Li Yongjie stated that efforts will focus on easing market access. Following the removal of all restrictions on foreign investment in the manufacturing sector last year, China will now prioritize opening up the services sector. Pilot programs in telecommunications, medical care, and education will be key areas of focus this year.
Li highlighted plans to enhance the business environment through initiatives like the Invest in China campaign and by providing improved services for foreign-invested enterprises.
The ministry is also committed to addressing challenges faced by foreign-invested firms, including issues related to qualification licensing, standard setting, and government procurement.
China aims to develop advanced opening-up platforms that align with international trade and economic standards. Li emphasized the importance of boosting the quality and efficiency of the country’s pilot free trade zones to support these goals.
