Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty co-chaired the China-Egypt foreign ministers’ strategic dialogue in Beijing on Friday.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee’s Political Bureau, highlighted that under the strategic guidance of their heads of state, China and Egypt have strengthened their traditional friendship and expanded mutually beneficial cooperation.
Wang reaffirmed China’s support for Egypt in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and development interests while opposing any external interference in Egypt’s internal affairs under any pretense.
He emphasized that China is prepared to collaborate with Egypt to implement the key agreements reached by their leaders and advance bilateral ties toward building a China-Egypt community with a shared future in the new era.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s commitment to the one-China policy, support for China’s reunification, and opposition to interference in China’s domestic matters under the guise of human rights concerns. He also expressed gratitude for China’s economic and social support and welcomed increased Chinese investment in Egypt.
Both nations agreed to leverage their intergovernmental cooperation mechanism to enhance Belt and Road collaboration and explore opportunities in emerging sectors such as new energy, aerospace, electric vehicles, 5G, agricultural technology, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy.
They also committed to deepening strategic dialogue, advancing BRICS cooperation to new heights, and enhancing coordination in multilateral settings.
