On August 8, 2024, the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station marked a significant milestone with the successful completion of the Back Feeding process. This achievement is a crucial step toward grid-connected power generation for the project, which is located on the Kunhar River in Mansehra and is a key part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The Back Feeding process involves connecting the power station’s electrical systems to the grid, a critical test to ensure that all components operate smoothly. Chairman and General Manager HE Xiongfei expressed his satisfaction, noting, “The Back Feeding process was a critical test, and we are thrilled that all equipment operated smoothly, meeting all design requirements.”
As the project nears its Commercial Operation Date (COD), the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station is poised to generate 3.212 billion kWh annually. This clean and affordable power will benefit over one million Pakistani households, significantly contributing to the country’s energy supply.
This milestone goes beyond energy production; it represents a transformative step in Pakistan’s energy landscape. The reliable and sustainable power generated by the station will play a crucial role in driving economic growth and development across the region.
The success of the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station highlights the strong partnership between China and Pakistan, and its impact will be felt for years to come.
