Xi, Sassou extend congratulations to FOCAC Coordinators’ Meeting as they shared commitment to development and growth in Global South.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Republic of the Congo President Denis Sassou Nguesso each sent congratulatory messages to the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which took place Wednesday in Changsha, Hunan Province.
President Xi emphasized that, despite the current global instability and transformation, China remains committed to contributing to global development by sharing the benefits of its modernization with Global South nations, especially African countries, and offering new growth opportunities through its vast domestic market.
Xi announced China’s readiness to sign the China-Africa Economic Partnership for Shared Development agreement, which includes providing zero-tariff treatment for all product categories from 53 African countries with diplomatic ties to China, further facilitating exports from Africa’s least developed nations.
He also reaffirmed China’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Africa through the implementation of the 10 modernization partnership initiatives, focusing on sectors like green industry, e-commerce, scientific and technological innovation, artificial intelligence, and enhancing collaboration in security, finance, and legal frameworks to drive high-quality development in China-Africa relations.
