Chinese President Xi Jinping recently responded to a letter from teachers and students of a U.S. youth pickleball exchange delegation from Montgomery County, Maryland. The group had visited China as part of the “50,000 in Five Years” initiative, which aims to bring 50,000 young Americans to China over a five-year period for study and exchange.
In his reply, President Xi congratulated the delegation on their successful visit and expressed happiness that pickleball had emerged as a new link for youth interaction between the two countries.
Xi emphasized that the future of China-U.S. relations lies in the hands of the younger generation. He expressed hope that the delegation members would serve as a new generation of friendship ambassadors, strengthening ties and understanding between the two peoples.
The U.S. delegation had earlier written to Xi, thanking him for launching the “50,000 in Five Years” initiative.
They also recounted their April visit to China, highlighting their participation in pickleball-related activities and the meaningful connections they built with Chinese students.
In their message, the group expressed a desire to invite young Chinese people to the United States, continuing the spirit of mutual cultural exchange.
