Turkey has announced visa-free travel for Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports for tourism and transit. The new policy allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period and takes effect from January 2, 2026.
The decree, signed by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, aims to strengthen tourism and trade between China and Turkey. The move comes after a surge in Chinese visitors to Turkey, making China one of Turkey’s fastest-growing tourism markets.
Official data shows that Chinese arrivals in Turkey rose 65.1% year-on-year in 2024, reaching approximately 410,000 travelers, driven by better flight connectivity and increasing interest in Turkey’s cultural heritage sites.
