First Deputy Minister of Health of Tajikistan, Salomatdin Jabbor Yusufi, highlighted the important role of Pakistani medical students in strengthening bilateral cooperation and people-to-people contacts. Around 450 Pakistani students study at Tajik universities, including Avicenna Tajik State Medical University (ATSMU), which offers modern facilities and international-standard education.
Tajikistan aims to become a regional hub for affordable, high-quality medical education. Both countries are exploring cooperation in clinical services, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, telemedicine, insurance, and public health. Pakistani private sector involvement in establishing hospitals and clinics in Tajikistan is encouraged.
Plans for 2026 include expanding medical education exchanges, medical tourism, and joint ventures. Recent high-level discussions have advanced MoUs in education and healthcare. ATSMU now offers two academic sessions per year, helping Pakistani students complete studies faster while strengthening bilateral relations.
