As part of the Prime Minister’s ongoing efforts to modernize Pakistan’s agriculture sector, a group of 100 agriculture graduates departed for China on Sunday to undergo six months of advanced training in crop breeding and genomics at the Southwest University of Science and Technology.
This marks the second batch of a larger initiative aimed at training 1,000 agricultural professionals. The program is jointly managed by the Ministry of National Food Security & Research (MNFSR), in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing.
The departing graduates were encouraged to maintain discipline and contribute actively to strengthening China-Pakistan cooperation, especially in science and technology.
The training initiative is aligned with CPEC goals and aims to adopt China’s climate-smart agricultural techniques, further deepening bilateral collaboration in sustainable farming.
During the ceremony, speakers highlighted the importance of drawing lessons from China’s seven decades of agricultural advancement and innovation.
Participants were reminded to represent Pakistan with professionalism and to act as bridges for enhanced scientific and technical exchange between the two countries.
This initiative is a central component of the government’s strategy to modernize agriculture, boost food security, and uplift rural communities.
Previously, 292 professionals completed a three-month training session at institutions in Shaanxi from April 16 to July 17, 2025. They are scheduled to return to Pakistan on July 21, reflecting progress in CPEC-driven agricultural and technological cooperation.
Upon their arrival in China, the new batch was warmly welcomed by university officials—a gesture underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to deepening educational and technical ties in the agricultural sector.
