 Punjab Industries Minister called on enhancing Punjab-China B2B linkages

LAHORE, Feb. 13, – Mr. S. M. Tanveer, Caretaker Provincial Minister for Industries (ICI&SD) and Energy Department, recently welcomed His Excellency Zhao Shiren, Consul General of the Peoples Republic of China to Lahore, at the Punjab Board of Investment & Trade (PBIT) centre, and stated that business-to-business links between Punjab and China should be strengthened, and business delegation visits to China should be encouraged to allow the private sector to take  lead in the collaborative efforts.

He also suggested that  PBIT organize investment roadshows with public-private partnerships in collaboration with the Consul General’s Office in order to attract Chinese businesses to relocate their manufacturing industries to Punjab.

While appreciating Minister Industries’ vision, CG China emphasized the importance of taking a holistic approach by increasing people-to-people relations between the two sides, which will open up new avenues for cooperation.

There was discussion about how to facilitate and improve Chinese investment in Punjab. Potential collaboration between Punjab and China on measures to improve environmental problems in Punjab’s major cities was also discussed.

Mr. Jalal Hassan, CEO of PBIT, emphasized PBIT’s ongoing close collaboration with the Chinese Consulate to support the government’s vision of increasing trade and investment ties between Punjab and China, particularly through the framework of industrial cooperation under CPEC.

On this occasion, the Consul General joined the Minister Industries and team PBIT along with some eminent business leaders from the industry for a simple but impressive cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the “Chinese New Year 2023”.
