More than 20 teachers and Electrical Engineering students from University of the Punjab visited SK Hydropower as part of an academic exchange program focused on hydropower generation and sustainable energy development.
Hands-On Learning Experience
During the visit, project experts explained the development of the hydropower facility and highlighted key technologies, construction methods, operational procedures, and maintenance practices. Participants also interacted with engineers and technical specialists to better understand plant operations.
Insights Into Renewable Energy Projects
In addition, students gained firsthand exposure to the opportunities and challenges associated with large-scale renewable energy projects. The discussions helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world engineering applications.
Clean Energy Contribution
SK Hydropower, operated by China Energy, has been generating electricity commercially since September 2024. Since then, the project has produced more than 3.5 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy, supporting Pakistan’s growing power demand and environmental goals.
Strengthening Industry-Academia Cooperation
Finally, participants and project representatives exchanged views on workforce development and technical education. As a result, both sides reaffirmed the importance of industry-academia collaboration in preparing skilled professionals for the future energy sector.
