The 2026 Pakistan Cultural Week opened on June 5 in Chengdu under the theme “75 Years of Iron Brotherhood: Mutual Learning of Civilizations Toward the Future.” The event celebrates the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Promoting Cultural and People-to-People Exchanges
The event creates opportunities for cultural exchange between Sichuan and Pakistan. Moreover, it introduces local communities to Pakistan’s history, traditions, cuisine, and creative industries. At the same time, it encourages stronger connections between entrepreneurs and cultural representatives from both countries.
Opening Ceremony Draws Diverse Participation
More than 150 guests attended the opening ceremony, including diplomats, government officials, cultural figures, media representatives, and students. The event was organized by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chengdu together with local Chinese institutions focused on international friendship and cultural engagement.

Music, Dance and Cultural Performances Highlight Event
The ceremony featured performances from both countries. Chinese artists presented choral music and traditional dance, while Pakistani performers showcased classic songs, Rubab performances, fashion presentations, and cultural dance programs. In addition, a joint musical performance by Chinese and Pakistani youth became one of the event’s key highlights.
Exhibitions and Film Screenings Continue Through June 10
The Cultural Week will continue until June 10 with multiple themed activities. These include a photography exhibition displaying nearly 60 works focused on Pakistan’s landscapes and heritage. Meanwhile, film screenings will introduce audiences to Ba Tie Girl and The Donkey King, offering broader exposure to Pakistani cinema and storytelling.
Celebrating Long-Term Friendship
Overall, the event reflects continued efforts by both countries to strengthen cultural understanding. As a result, Pakistan Cultural Week serves as another platform for deepening people-to-people ties alongside broader diplomatic cooperation.
