President Zardari meets Chinese Leader, Strengthens Cooperation during his visit to Chengdu, where he held talks with Li Shulei, a senior Chinese leader and Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. The meeting focused on expanding political, economic, and cultural cooperation between the two long-standing allies.
President Zardari expressed gratitude to Li for hosting him in Sichuan and congratulated the organisers on the successful Second Golden Panda Awards International Culture Forum. He highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing people-to-people exchanges and strengthening cultural diplomacy as key pillars of bilateral relations.
Li Shulei conveyed the greetings of President Xi Jinping, recalling their earlier meeting in February and appreciating President Zardari’s recent article in China Daily, which reflected Pakistan’s perspectives on global cooperation. He stressed that both he and President Xi valued Zardari’s leadership in furthering Pakistan-China relations.
Emphasising the enduring friendship, Li noted that while the world faces turbulence, China and Pakistan will remain “iron-clad brothers.” He added that the global community needs “the fragrance of books rather than the smell of gunpowder,” underlining the role of cultural exchange in fostering peace.
The discussions reaffirmed the depth of the Pakistan-China partnership, built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared vision for development. Both sides are committed to carrying forward the tradition of close cooperation across all fields, ensuring that the partnership continues to serve as a model of regional stability and cooperation.
