Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has highlighted investment opportunities across several key sectors in Pakistan. He identified agriculture, mines and minerals, IT, artificial intelligence, ports, and shipping as areas with strong potential.
The prime minister spoke during meetings with delegations from the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) and the US-Pakistan Business Council (USPBC) in New York.
Pakistan Seeks More Foreign Investment
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s economy has achieved stability and is moving toward growth. He also highlighted structural reforms and efforts to digitize the economy.
According to the prime minister, these reforms can create a stronger environment for businesses and investors. He also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation with international companies.
Agriculture and Natural Resources
Agriculture remains another major area for investment. Shehbaz Sharif said modern technology and machinery can help Pakistan increase agricultural production.

The prime minister also highlighted Pakistan’s young population. He said the government is working to empower young people through IT, AI, vocational education, and skills training.

Shehbaz Sharif also pointed to improved Pakistan-US relations over the past year. He discussed efforts to facilitate peace in the Gulf region and stressed the importance of regional stability for business and investment.
He said long-term peace could support greater economic activity and strengthen investor confidence.
US Business Groups Show Interest
Representatives of USPBC and BCIU assured the prime minister that they would continue engaging with Pakistan’s government and private sector.
The business groups also recognized Pakistan as an important market for US companies. They highlighted the country’s large market and youthful workforce.
Furthermore, members briefed the prime minister on their existing business interests in Pakistan. They also shared plans to expand their presence in the country.
Investment Outlook
The discussions highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to attract foreign investment across traditional and emerging sectors. Agriculture, natural resources, technology, AI, and maritime infrastructure remain key areas of focus.
