Pakistan has completed arrangements to increase rice exports to Malaysia by an additional 70,000 metric tons. The new export quantity will reach Malaysia between October and December this year.
The initiative follows directives from Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Relevant ministries and officials secured the additional export opportunity through diplomatic and trade efforts.
Additional Rice Exports to Malaysia
The new arrangement will expand Pakistan’s access to the Malaysian rice market. It will also create additional opportunities for Pakistani farmers and exporters.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the team involved in securing the additional export quantity.
Moreover, he described the 70,000-metric-ton increase as an important development for farmers and the national economy.
Government Focuses on Agricultural Exports
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said expanding international market access for Pakistani agricultural products remains a government priority.
He stressed the importance of increasing exports to support economic growth. In addition, he called for sustained efforts to expand Pakistan’s presence in international markets.
Supporting Farmers and Economic Growth
The additional rice exports could provide greater market opportunities for Pakistan’s agricultural sector. They may also support farmers by expanding demand for locally produced rice.
Furthermore, the government aims to use stronger international trade links to promote export-led economic growth.
Pakistan Seeks Wider International Markets
Pakistan continues to focus on expanding overseas markets for its agricultural commodities. The latest agreement with Malaysia adds another opportunity for the country’s rice exporters.
As a result, stronger market access could contribute to higher agricultural exports and support Pakistan’s broader trade objectives.
