Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen cooperation in defence, economy, and parliamentary engagement. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the partnership rests on brotherhood, trust, and shared aspirations for regional stability.
PM Highlights Brotherhood and Defence Partnership
The prime minister made these remarks during a luncheon at the Prime Minister’s House in honour of Prince Mansour bin Mohammad bin Saad Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, senior officials, and business leaders also attended.
Welcoming Prince Mansour, PM Shehbaz said both nations are tied by faith and fraternity. He recalled visiting the Kingdom in the 1960s and noted its transformation under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s leadership.
“The Pakistan–Saudi defence cooperation agreement reflects our mutual trust and deep brotherhood,” the prime minister said. “We are true brothers and will always stand as protectors of Makkah and Madinah.”
He praised Saudi Arabia’s consistent support for Pakistan during difficult times, calling it a true example of Islamic solidarity.
Expanding Trade and Investment
PM Shehbaz said both countries are entering “a time of golden opportunities.” He reaffirmed their shared goal of expanding collaboration in trade, investment, innovation, and research. “Together, we can turn our shared business vision into reality,” he remarked.
Prince Mansour appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to boost cooperation in key sectors. He said the Saudi business community is eager to invest in Pakistan and had briefed senior Saudi ministers about strategic projects before his visit.
Strengthening Parliamentary Engagement
Earlier, PM Shehbaz met Saudi Shura Council Chairman Dr Abdullah bin Mohammad bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh and his delegation. Both sides agreed to enhance parliamentary exchanges to deepen mutual understanding and promote institutional cooperation.
The prime minister described the recently signed joint defence agreement as “highly significant,” saying it will further strengthen economic, strategic, and defence ties.
He also lauded Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s leadership, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s progress in modernisation and women’s empowerment.
PM Lauds Peace Efforts in Azad Kashmir
Separately, PM Shehbaz appreciated the government’s negotiating committee for peacefully resolving the recent unrest in Azad Kashmir. He assured that the government would take all necessary measures to address the concerns of the Kashmiri people.
“The welfare and rights of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters remain our top priority,” he said, stressing continued focus on peace and development in the region.
Federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Sardar Muhammad Yusuf, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
