The first-ever shipment of Muriate of Potash (MOP) at Gwadar Port has arrived, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s fertiliser industry. A commercial vessel carrying 4,000 tons of raw MOP, delivered by The Truong An Water Transport Company Limited, has docked for processing at Agven’s state-of-the-art fertiliser facility in the Gwadar North Free Zone.
The MOP consignment will be processed, packaged, and branded locally before being supplied to domestic buyers and exported to international markets. Known for enhancing crop quality by improving resistance to pests and diseases, MOP is considered a premium-grade fertiliser critical to modern agriculture.
Agven’s Director of Operations, Sharjeel, said the launch of local processing expands the company’s operations beyond its current import and repackaging activities for markets such as Afghanistan. “We are proud to pioneer industrial growth in Gwadar’s North Free Zone with Pakistan’s first advanced manufacturing plant producing Sulphate of Potash (SOP) in granular and powdered forms,” he noted. The SOP facility boasts an annual production capacity of 20,000 metric tons.
In 2025 alone, Agven has handled two other major fertiliser shipments, 20,000 metric tons of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) in June and 35,000 metric tons in February. Backed by a nationwide logistics network, the company efficiently manages large-scale imports and distribution of bulk commodities sourced from multiple global suppliers. According to the Gwadar Port Authority, the introduction of Muriate of Potash at Gwadar Port for local processing demonstrates the port’s evolving role as a hub for value-added fertiliser production and agricultural trade in Pakistan.
