Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, has underscored Pakistan’s intent to deepen economic ties with Kyrgyzstan, setting an ambitious target of boosting bilateral trade to $100 million.
During the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Inter-Governmental Commission meeting held in Islamabad on Monday, Leghari emphasized the need for consistent and cross-sectoral collaboration to achieve this goal. He highlighted that meaningful steps, such as reviving the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Joint Business Council and facilitating regular B2B exchanges, will be vital to drive momentum in trade relations.
He also stressed the importance of promptly finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on electronic data interchange between the two countries’ customs authorities to streamline trade procedures and improve transparency.
The Minister welcomed Kyrgyzstan’s growing interest in Pakistan’s mineral sector, particularly in the exploration of copper and gold, indicating potential for significant investment and cooperation in this high-value industry
