Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is reviewing proposals from the Committee to Monitor Petrol Prices, including work-from-home policies and online classes for students, aimed at reducing fuel consumption amid rising regional tensions from the US-Israel conflict with Iran.
The committee also recommended shifting to weekly petroleum price revisions instead of the current fortnightly schedule. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb confirmed that national reserves remain sufficient, ensuring no immediate shortages of petroleum products.
Officials cautioned that global market volatility, rising “war premiums,” and increased regional competition for energy resources could impact supply chains. The government is preparing multiple contingency plans to maintain stability in domestic energy availability.
