In a high-level meeting in Beijing on Friday, Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, Zhang Youxia, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir. The two military leaders underscored the deep-rooted defense partnership between their countries and pledged to further enhance bilateral military and strategic cooperation.
Zhang congratulated General Munir on his appointment as Field Marshal, calling the China-Pakistan military relationship a vital pillar of the broader diplomatic ties. He emphasized the importance of implementing the strategic consensus reached by the top leadership of both nations, while reinforcing collaboration across defense, counter-terrorism, and regional stability.
Highlighting shared responsibilities in maintaining peace and development in the region, Zhang stated that China remains committed to building a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future. He also stressed the need to intensify counter-terrorism efforts and urged Pakistan to continue ensuring the security of Chinese nationals, institutions, and development projects operating within its territory.
General Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to its “iron-clad” friendship with China, describing bilateral ties as enduring and multifaceted. He expressed deep appreciation for China’s visionary initiatives and conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to expand cooperation across multiple sectors. He further assured that Pakistan will continue to take robust measures against terrorism to safeguard its Chinese counterparts.
This reaffirmation of military and strategic cooperation marks another step in strengthening the long-standing alliance between the two nations amid growing regional complexities.
