Pakistan, China call for peace, agree to counter aggression during a high-level meeting in New York.

Pakistan and China stressed the importance of rejecting aggressive stances and unilateral measures, warning that such actions pose a serious threat to regional peace.

This shared viewpoint emerged during a meeting in New York between a high-level Pakistani parliamentary delegation, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Fu Cong.

Both sides called for promoting peace in South Asia through responsible engagement and multilateral cooperation.

They reaffirmed their joint commitment to resolving disputes through peaceful means, supporting multilateralism, upholding the UN Charter, honoring treaties, and respecting international law.

The meeting addressed the shifting security situation in South Asia, particularly in response to India’s recent aggressive actions and Pakistan’s continued efforts to maintain peace and stability.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed deep gratitude to China on behalf of the Pakistani people for its firm and consistent support during the period of Indian provocation.

He informed the Chinese side about the developments following the Pahalgam attack and emphasized Pakistan’s restrained and responsible behavior in the face of India’s confrontational approach.

Bilawal noted that India rejected Pakistan’s offer for a credible, impartial, and independent investigation into the incident.

He reiterated that a lasting solution to the Jammu and Kashmir issue is essential for sustainable peace in South Asia and encouraged China to support its resolution in line with relevant UN resolutions.

He also stressed the need for the international community to move beyond conflict management and pursue genuine conflict resolution for lasting peace in the region.

The Pakistani delegation highlighted India’s violations, including cross-border attacks, targeting of civilians, support for terrorism within Pakistan, and its provocative move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty in defiance of international law.
