Pakistan calls for stronger climate resilience as the country is committed to combat climate change.
Romina Khurshid Alam, the coordinator to the Pakistani prime minister on climate change and environmental coordination, reaffirmed the country’s dedication to strengthening cooperation with other nations to address climate risks and enhance financial stability.
During a high-level discussion with a delegation from the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) on Monday, Alam shed light on the severe challenges faced by nations most affected by climate change.
“The situation for climate-vulnerable countries is dire. These nations not only endure the immediate consequences of climate change but also struggle for acknowledgment and funding in global discussions,” she stated. She further emphasized the need for these countries to advocate for financial resilience strategies and secure resources necessary to meet both climate and development objectives.
As Pakistan calls for stronger climate resilience, Alam stressed the importance of data-driven insights to guide decision-making and improve resource mobilization while highlighting the significance of regional collaboration in tackling climate risks and ensuring financial stability among CVF members
“By equipping our countries with the ability to take decisive steps, access crucial resources, and foster sustainable growth across the region, we can make a real impact… Pakistan’s proactive role in promoting regional climate resilience demonstrates its steadfast commitment to global climate justice,” she further asserted.
