Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, participated in the 10th China–South Asia Exposition (CSA Expo) and the 30th China Kunming Import & Export Fair held on June 11, 2026, in Kunming, Yunnan Province.
During the event, Ambassador Hashmi and Yunnan Vice Governor Yang Yang jointly inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion. The ceremony formed part of activities marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Speaking at the event, the ambassador emphasized the importance of the Pakistan–China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. He also highlighted the need to use such platforms to expand cooperation in trade, investment, industrial development, and people-to-people exchanges.
Pakistan’s Strong Presence at the Expo
Pakistan participated actively in this year’s exposition with 130 companies and 327 exhibitors. As a result, the strong representation reflected growing economic engagement and rising interest among Pakistani businesses in accessing Chinese markets.
Moreover, the ambassador toured exhibition booths alongside provincial officials. He interacted with business representatives, reviewed Pakistani products, and encouraged exhibitors to strengthen commercial partnerships and explore new market opportunities.
Focus on Regional Connectivity and Growth
Ambassador Hashmi also addressed the 7th China–South Asia Cooperation Forum, held under the theme of strengthening partnerships for a shared future among neighboring countries.
During his remarks, he described Pakistan–China relations as a model built on trust, mutual support, and respect. Furthermore, he highlighted South Asia’s economic and demographic potential and called for stronger regional cooperation based on connectivity, sustainable development, and shared prosperity.
The ambassador also underlined the role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in supporting infrastructure growth, regional connectivity, and economic development.
Economic Diplomacy and Future Cooperation
On the sidelines of the expo, Ambassador Hashmi engaged with leading Chinese media outlets. These discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional connectivity, economic cooperation, sustainable development, globalization, and fair trade.
Overall, the visit reflected Pakistan’s continued commitment to economic diplomacy and stronger trade and investment partnerships with China and South Asia. The engagements are expected to create new opportunities for practical cooperation and further strengthen regional connectivity and development.
