Pakistan and China strengthened cooperation in vocational education, technical training, and youth development during a high-level visit to China led by Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan.

Education Cooperation Moves Forward

During the visit, the delegation held discussions with representatives of Guangdong Open University (Guangdong Polytechnic Institute). University President Liu Wenqing and Vice President Song Bo reviewed ongoing education projects and assessed progress on commitments announced during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China.

In addition, both sides focused on accelerating skills development initiatives and creating stronger institutional linkages.

PMYP Establishes China Secretariat

A major outcome of the visit was the announcement of the China Secretariat of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme at the Beijing headquarters of Tangfeng International Education Group.

Furthermore, the initiative aims to improve coordination between Pakistani and Chinese institutions and strengthen pathways for youth employment through educational collaboration.

Rana Mashhood reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding opportunities for young people through structured education and training programmes.

Teacher Training Initiative Announced

Another milestone was the joint unveiling of the Pakistan National Vocational Education Teachers Training Base plaque.

The initiative will support faculty development, improve technical education standards, and expand employability opportunities for Pakistani youth. Moreover, it marks a formal step toward long-term institutional cooperation in teacher training.

Focus on NEV and Industrial Skills

Separately, the delegation visited Beijing Guangda Boye Technology Development Co., Ltd. Discussions centered on emerging technologies, particularly training systems for new energy vehicles (NEVs).

Company representatives presented advanced manufacturing processes and practical training models. Meanwhile, both sides explored cooperation in curriculum development, industry-academia integration, and workforce preparation.

Key areas of collaboration included electric vehicle maintenance, battery systems, intelligent manufacturing, and short-term technical certification programmes.

Supporting Future Workforce Development

Overall, the visit highlighted growing Pakistan-China cooperation in technical education and industrial skills. As a result, both countries aim to equip young people with practical capabilities aligned with future economic and industrial demands.
