Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for advancing innovation-driven growth and green development to accelerate the creation of a modern industrial system tailored to regional strengths.
During a two-day inspection tour of Gansu and Qinghai, Li emphasised that development strategies must align with local advantages while remaining at the forefront of global technology.
In Lanzhou, Gansu Province, he toured a high-tech company and an industrial park, urging enterprises and research institutions to increase R&D investment and strengthen talent cultivation. He also inspected ecological restoration along the Yellow River, praising local progress while stressing the need for a comprehensive approach to conserving mountains, rivers, forests, grasslands, farmland, and deserts.
While visiting Xining, Qinghai Province, Li was briefed on efforts to expand green energy, ecological protection, and computing capacity. He highlighted Qinghai’s potential in clean energy and green computing, calling for deeper integration between these sectors. At a food enterprise, he encouraged innovation in green agriculture and animal husbandry to raise efficiency, improve quality, and generate employment for farmers and herders.
Acknowledging the development progress in both provinces, Li urged continued focus on ecological protection and the large-scale development of China’s western regions. He stressed that these efforts will not only preserve the country’s “green legacy” but also contribute to balanced national growth.
