The Lahore Chinese International Academy (LCIA) and the University of Management and Technology have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic collaboration, promote Chinese language education, and expand cultural exchanges between Pakistan and China.
The agreement, signed on July 14, aims to deepen institutional cooperation while creating new opportunities for students and faculty from both institutions.
MoU Promotes Academic and Cultural Exchange
The MoU was signed by He Yubing, Vice Principal of LCIA, and Dr. Nadia Anwar, Acting Dean of UMT’s School of Liberal Arts, during a ceremony in Lahore.
Under the agreement, both institutions will cooperate on Chinese language training, academic exchanges, and cultural activities. Moreover, the partnership seeks to promote greater understanding between Pakistani and Chinese students and educators.
Expanding Chinese Language Education
LCIA has played an active role in promoting Chinese language education in Pakistan. The academy has consistently supported people-to-people exchanges and has previously partnered with educational institutions, including Lahore University of Management Sciences, to deliver language training programs.
Furthermore, the academy continues to expand its collaboration with Pakistani universities to strengthen educational and cultural ties between the two countries.
UMT Strengthens International Partnerships
UMT is one of Pakistan’s leading higher education institutions and holds the ‘W4’ category ranking from the Higher Education Commission, recognizing its strong academic performance and research excellence.
The university’s emphasis on international collaboration and cross-cultural engagement makes it a valuable partner in advancing Chinese studies and educational cooperation.
Supporting Pakistan-China Educational Ties
The new agreement reflects the growing importance of academic diplomacy in Pakistan-China relations.
In addition to strengthening language education, the partnership is expected to encourage joint academic initiatives, cultural programs, and institutional collaboration.
Consequently, the MoU is expected to contribute to stronger educational links and greater people-to-people connectivity between Pakistan and China.
