Karakoram International University (KIU) has broadened its China-Pakistan Friendship Merit-cum-Need Based Scholarship programs by awarding financial support to 95 additional PhD, MS, and BS students. With the latest round of awards, the total number of beneficiaries has now exceeded 500 since the initiative began in 2022.
University officials, faculty members, and recipients attended the ceremony, where Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah reiterated the institution’s commitment to helping students continue their education without financial obstacles. He encouraged students to remain dedicated to their studies and use the funds responsibly.
Speaking to Gwadar Pro, the Vice Chancellor said the scholarships reflect the strong goodwill of the Chinese government and the continued support of the Chinese ambassador. He noted that academic exchange programs with Chinese universities under the Belt and Road Initiative would further deepen educational cooperation.
The scholarship programs is funded by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan and administered by KIU’s Financial Aid Office, which was praised for effectively managing the initiative.
