Karakoram International University (KIU) has distributed Pak-China Ambassadorial Scholarship cheques to 76 students. The support will help deserving students continue their higher education.
The university organized the ceremony through its Financial Aid Office. The China Study Centre also supported the event at the KIU Conference Hall.
Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaq distributed the scholarship cheques among the recipients.
Scholarship Supports Higher Education
Speaking at the ceremony, Abdul Razaq highlighted the importance of the Pak-China Ambassadorial Scholarship. He described it as a reflection of strong educational ties between Pakistan and China.
He also said scholarships can reduce financial pressure on students. This support allows recipients to focus more on their studies and academic goals.
KIU Scholarship Record
KIU has distributed scholarships under the program for several years. In 2024, the university awarded 153 scholarships across its campuses.
The main campus received 93 scholarships. Meanwhile, the Diamer, Ghizer, and Hunza campuses each received 20 scholarships.
Half of the scholarships in 2024 went to female students. This allocation supported greater access to higher education for women in the region.
Hundreds of Students Supported
KIU awarded 130 scholarships each in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, the university distributed Rs5.2 million, with each recipient receiving Rs40,000.
With the latest distribution, KIU has supported around 600 students since 2022 through China-backed merit-cum-need scholarships.
Strengthening Pakistan-China Education Ties
The scholarship program highlights growing educational cooperation between Pakistan and China. It also provides financial support to students seeking higher education at KIU.
Moreover, continued scholarship assistance can help talented students from the region overcome financial barriers. The initiative therefore supports both academic development and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
