The Embassy of Indonesia in Pakistan hosted a grand reception to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The event also celebrated Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day and the anniversary of its Armed Forces.
Indonesian Ambassador Chandra W. Sukotjo welcomed distinguished guests, including Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, federal ministers, ASEAN ambassadors, envoys from friendly countries, senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, and representatives of international organisations. Ambassador Sukotjo highlighted the enduring friendship and mutual trust that have defined Indonesia-Pakistan relations since 1949. He emphasised that these 75 years reflect solidarity, shared values, and the commitment to strengthening bilateral ties further.
The celebration showcased vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances, music, and a fashion show, organised by the Indonesian Embassy Women’s Association and Paguyuban Citra, a cultural troupe from Indonesia led by former minister Linda Amalia Gumelar. Pakistani and Indonesian youth performed jointly, reflecting strong people-to-people connections.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry congratulated Indonesia on the three milestones: the country’s 80th Independence Day, the 80th anniversary of its Armed Forces, and 75 years of friendship with Pakistan. He praised Indonesia’s resilience and progress while noting that bilateral cooperation has grown beyond governmental ties to robust cultural and social exchanges over seven decades.
Ambassador Sukotjo concluded the event with gratitude for all contributors, stating, “Indonesia-Pakistan, Dosti Zindabad,” reaffirming the nations’ shared commitment to lasting friendship and collaboration.
