To ensure a reliable and steady water supply, the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has introduced a new potable water mechanism. The initiative aims to streamline water distribution, install new pipelines where necessary, and crack down on illegal water connections. The water committee meeting, chaired by GDA Director General Moeen ur Rehman Khan, reviewed the city’s overall water situation with special attention to Pasni. Attendees included Chief Engineer Haji Syed Muhammad, Project Director Water Meer Jan Baloch, and other senior officials.
It was clarified that the main pipeline from Shadi Kor Dam is designed solely to meet Gwadar city’s water needs. New lines will be installed where required, and legal action against illegal connections and water theft will be intensified. The meeting also addressed the formal billing system and the issuance of new water connections, with consumer data being compiled to activate the system soon.
Responsibility for Pasni’s water supply remains with the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE). However, due to incomplete pipelines, PHE has depended partially on GDA supplies, which will continue as capacity allows. This initiative is part of GDA’s ongoing efforts to modernize Gwadar’s water system, ensuring residents have safe and reliable access to potable water.
