Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor 2.0.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Shanghai.
Expanding Cooperation in Key Sectors
Both leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence.
Moreover, they emphasized the importance of innovation and emerging technologies in strengthening the long-term strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
Commitment to High-Quality CPEC 2.0
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the continued growth of bilateral relations. They also reaffirmed their commitment to the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
In addition, both countries pledged to accelerate the high-quality development of CPEC 2.0, with a focus on sustainable economic growth, connectivity, and industrial cooperation.
Regional and Global Issues Discussed
The meeting also included discussions on regional and international developments.
Furthermore, the two foreign ministers agreed to maintain close coordination and regular consultations on issues of mutual interest. They also committed to enhancing cooperation at regional and multilateral forums.
High-Level Pakistani Delegation Attends
A senior Pakistani delegation accompanied Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar during the meeting.
The delegation included officials from the ministries and institutions responsible for foreign affairs, information technology, artificial intelligence, and virtual assets. Their participation reflected Pakistan’s growing focus on digital transformation and technology-driven cooperation with China.
Strengthening the Pakistan-China Partnership
The meeting underscored the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
As a result, both countries are expected to further expand cooperation in economic development, technological innovation, digital connectivity, and regional stability through CPEC 2.0 and other bilateral initiatives.
