CPEC Status Update 2026 shows continued progress in Pakistan-China cooperation, with major advancements across energy, transport, Gwadar development and Special Economic Zones. The energy sector remains the largest beneficiary, with completed and pipeline projects expected to add over 13,000 MW to Pakistan’s power generation capacity.
Completed energy projects worth over $15 billion have already added 9,504 MW through coal, wind, hydel and solar sources. Meanwhile, pipeline energy projects valued at $6.71 billion aim to add another 3,544 MW, strengthening energy security and supporting industrial growth under CPEC.
In infrastructure and regional development, motorways, railways, mass transit systems and communication projects are enhancing connectivity nationwide. Gwadar continues to evolve as a strategic port city with airport, hospital, desalination and SEZ projects progressing, while multiple Special Economic Zones across Pakistan are driving investment, employment and long-term economic integration with China.
