Chinese FM hold phone talks with Pakistani deputy PM Ishaq Dar to discuss the ongoing regional tensions and developments after the terrorist incident.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi engaged in a phone conversation with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday.
During the call, Dar updated Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, about the latest tensions with India following a terrorist incident in the Kashmir region.
Dar reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering stance against terrorism and opposition to any actions that could escalate tensions. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to handling the situation responsibly and maintaining dialogue with China and the broader international community.
Wang expressed that China is closely monitoring the developments and stressed that fighting terrorism is a global responsibility. He also reaffirmed China’s long-standing support for Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism.
Highlighting the strong China-Pakistan relationship, Wang said China fully recognizes Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns and firmly backs Pakistan’s efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and national interests.
Wang further noted that China calls for a prompt and impartial investigation into the incident, stating that conflict is not in the fundamental interest of either India or Pakistan and undermines regional peace and stability.
He concluded by expressing hope that both sides would exercise restraint, engage in dialogue, and work together to ease tensions.
