 Chinese firm expressing interest in investing in Punjab

LAHORE, Feb 19 – A delegation from a Chinese company held a meeting with caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi and discussed investment opportunities in the province of Punjab.

According to an official statement, “during the meeting areas of mutual interests, especially the establishment of manufacturing facilities by Tians Group in Punjab were discussed”. Besides Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Secretary Industries Punjab Ehsan Bhutta, CEO Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), and senior officials from other departments were also present in the meeting.

Moreover, on February 17, the Chinese delegation held a meeting with Director General CPEC Industrial Cooperation, BOI, Asim Ayub, for a briefing about the company’s investment interest in Pakistan, following the relaxing of COVID-19 measures in China.

Asim Ayub appreciated the company’s intent to invest in Pakistan and assured of the Board of Investment’s utmost support in actualising their investment projects.

The Chinese company has been operating in the health industry of Pakistan for 20 years and now desires to localise the production of its health products. Being a conglomerate in diverse fields including bi-tech, education, retail, tourism, finance, international trade, and e-business, etc., and having offices in 110 countries, it is also interested in investing in renewable energy, tourism and industrial parks.

Earlier this week, PBIT also held a productive meeting with China’s Tianneng Group representatives and assured them of complete support and comprehensive assistance for their investment in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) of Punjab.
