Chinese bus maker Zhongtong Bus Holding Co. Ltd. will start local assembly of luxury buses in Pakistan by mid-2026 through a partnership with Ghandhara Industries Limited (GIL). The companies have signed a formal agreement to introduce and distribute Zhongtong buses in the Pakistani market.
GIL will set up a dedicated manufacturing line for these buses alongside its existing facilities. The rollout will happen in two phases. First, Completely Built-Up (CBU) buses will launch in the first quarter of 2026. Local assembly will start by mid-2026, once regulatory approvals are completed and the plant expansion finishes.
This partnership will expand GIL’s product range, boost local manufacturing, and cut reliance on imports. It marks a major step for Pakistan’s transport sector, helping Zhongtong grow its presence and supporting the country’s automotive industry.
