China’s 15th Five-Year Plan for the first time emphasizes building the country as a “tourism nation,” marking a major policy shift aimed at boosting luxury hospitality, cultural exchange, and international tourism.
Industry leaders, including Sonia Cheng of Rosewood Hotels Group and Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, praised the plan as a catalyst for long-term growth, positioning their companies as “global cultural connectors.” They aim to promote Chinese heritage through modern, bespoke experiences for international visitors.
The plan reflects China’s broader strategy to enhance soft power, attract tourists, and integrate culture with economic development, reinforcing China’s position as a global tourism destination.
