China has urged all parties involved in the Ukraine crisis to prioritize dialogue and political solutions, stressing that negotiations remain the only viable path to lasting peace.
Speaking at a United Nations Security Council session, China’s Deputy Permanent Representative Sun Lei highlighted Beijing’s “Four Shoulds”: respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, uphold the UN Charter, address legitimate security concerns, and support all peace-promoting efforts.
Sun emphasized the importance of mutual respect and goodwill between Russia and Ukraine, urging both sides to address each other’s concerns and work toward a comprehensive, lasting, and binding peace agreement. He also called for learning from the crisis to build a balanced and sustainable European security framework.
Reaffirming China’s objective stance, Sun pledged continued support for dialogue, communication with relevant parties, and political resolution efforts, underlining that conflicts and wars have no winners and that an early ceasefire is essential.
