Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan can only be resolved through dialogue and consultation. Speaking in a phone conversation with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, he said that using force would intensify contradictions and harm regional peace and stability.
Muttaqi thanked China for its active mediation efforts and reiterated that Afghanistan seeks to promote peace rather than unrest. He confirmed that Afghan territory will not be used to attack neighboring countries and expressed the hope for mutual trust and friendly coexistence.
Wang Yi highlighted that volatile conditions make regional unity and cooperation more important than ever. China has maintained an impartial stance and is working through its special envoy to mediate between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Both sides are encouraged to remain calm, exercise restraint, engage in face-to-face dialogue, and work towards a ceasefire to resolve differences peacefully.
