China, U.S. trade stability key for global business: vice commerce minister Wang Shouwen stated during a meeting with PepsiCo Chairman and CEO.
Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen stated that maintaining stable, healthy, and sustainable economic and trade relations between China and the United States serves the core interests of both nations and benefits businesses worldwide. His remarks came during a meeting with PepsiCo’s chairman and CEO, Ramon Laguarta.
Wang, who also serves as China’s international trade representative, emphasized that economic and trade relations between the two countries are mutually beneficial. During the meeting on Tuesday, both sides discussed key topics, including bilateral trade relations and PepsiCo’s business activities in China, as noted by the Ministry of Commerce.
He further expressed confidence in China’s ability to meet its economic growth targets for 2025, as outlined in the government work report. Wang highlighted that the country’s policies to stimulate domestic demand and boost consumption will create new opportunities for foreign investors, including PepsiCo.
Additionally, Wang addressed China’s position on trade-related issues, particularly the unilateral tariff increases imposed by the U.S. on Chinese goods.
Laguarta also acknowledged that PepsiCo has experienced rapid growth in its food and beverage sector in China, thanks to the country’s pro-consumption policies. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding investment in China and strengthening its presence in the market while supporting stable and constructive U.S.-China trade relations.
