Pakistan is strengthening its emergency response system with modern Chinese technology. The country has received 21 new rescue and firefighting vehicles at Karachi Port for deployment in Islamabad.
The Ministry of Interior said the vehicles will reach the capital within five days. The fleet marks the first major expansion of Islamabad’s rescue and firefighting capabilities in 17 years.
Major Upgrade for Islamabad Rescue
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inspected the vehicles at Karachi Port. He described the arrival as the biggest expansion of Islamabad Rescue’s fleet since 2009.
Naqvi also thanked the Chinese government for speeding up the delivery of the vehicles.
Moreover, the new equipment will strengthen emergency operations across the capital. It will particularly improve firefighting and rescue capabilities in high-rise buildings.
Advanced Rescue and Firefighting Equipment
The new vehicles feature modern rescue and firefighting systems. They can support emergency operations at heights of up to 256 feet.
The fleet includes:
- 4 aerial fire trucks
- 6 fire towers
- 5 fire tenders
- Other specialized rescue vehicles
These vehicles will help emergency teams respond to fires and rescue situations more effectively.
Vehicles to Serve Six Stations
Authorities will deploy the new vehicles across six rescue stations in Islamabad. The fleet will remain available around the clock to handle emergencies.
In addition, the upgraded equipment will expand the operational capacity of rescue teams. It will also provide better support during complex incidents involving tall buildings.
China-Pakistan Cooperation in Emergency Services
The arrival highlights another area of practical cooperation between Pakistan and China. Chinese technology is contributing to Pakistan’s efforts to modernize emergency-response infrastructure.
As a result, Islamabad will have additional specialized equipment to respond to fires, high-rise incidents, and other emergencies.
A Long-Awaited Fleet Expansion
The new vehicles represent the first major addition to Islamabad Rescue’s fleet in 17 years. Their deployment is expected to improve the capital’s emergency preparedness.
Furthermore, the upgraded fleet can help rescue authorities strengthen response times and improve their ability to manage challenging operations.
