Chinese Minister Counselor Xu Hangtian has reaffirmed the strength of Pakistan-China relations, saying nothing can jeopardize the close bilateral partnership.
He said people-to-people exchanges and grassroots support form the foundation of the enduring friendship between the two countries.
People-to-People Ties at the Core
Speaking at an event, Xu highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding support for China. He said the term “Ba Tie,” or “ironclad brothers,” reflects the deep bond between the two peoples.
Moreover, he called for stronger cultural and educational exchanges. He encouraged students from both countries to learn more about each other’s history and culture.
China, Pakistan Expand Technology Cooperation
Xu also urged both countries to expand cooperation in emerging technologies. Artificial intelligence, information technology, and space technology were among the areas he highlighted.
In addition, he noted that Chinese companies such as Huawei have contributed to training Pakistani talent. Both governments are also working to expand student exchanges and technology cooperation.
Countering Misinformation
The Chinese official identified misinformation as a challenge facing both countries. He stressed that countering false information requires efforts from all sectors of society.
Furthermore, he said stronger people-to-people connections can help build greater mutual understanding and trust.
Support for Regional Peace Efforts
Xu reaffirmed China’s support for Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace and stability. He particularly welcomed Pakistan’s role in facilitating talks between Iran and the United States.
He described Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts as sincere and beneficial to regional stability. China, he added, is ready to maintain close coordination with Pakistan on peace and security issues.
New Five-Year Cooperation Plan
Xu said China and Pakistan have finalized an Action Plan for 2025-2029. The plan aims to build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
He added that China will seek greater alignment between Pakistan’s development priorities and its own Five-Year Plan.
As a result, both sides aim to create fresh momentum for bilateral cooperation and strengthen their long-term partnership.
Stronger Cultural and Youth Exchanges
Xu emphasized that people remain the foundation of both history and the future. He therefore called for expanded cultural, educational, and youth exchanges.
Overall, the remarks underline China’s commitment to deepening Pakistan-China relations through stronger public engagement, technology cooperation, and coordinated efforts for regional stability.
