Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday emphasized the need for China and Russia to strengthen mutual support within multilateral institutions. He stressed the importance of safeguarding each other’s development and security interests, uniting Global South countries, and promoting a fairer and more equitable international order.
During his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Beijing, Xi urged both countries to collaborate in guiding the future course of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), energize the organization with fresh momentum, and enhance its role as a strategic and impactful platform.
