China retained its position as Pakistan’s largest import partner in January 2026, with imports reaching $1.62 billion, up 18.7% from $1.37 billion during the same period last year. Other major contributors included the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia, but China led the list by a wide margin.
Monthly trade data from the State Bank of Pakistan also revealed mixed trends: while imports from China fell 8% MoM, the cumulative imports from January to July FY26 stood at $11.1 billion, reinforcing China’s dominant role in Pakistan’s trade landscape.
Analysts note that Pakistan’s reliance on China for industrial goods, machinery, and consumer products continues to grow, underscoring the strategic importance of China-Pakistan trade relations for economic stability and development.
