Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren met Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javaid Qazi in Lahore to discuss the province’s law and order situation and review security arrangements for Chinese nationals working in Punjab.
During the meeting, Zhao highlighted China’s growing investment footprint in Pakistan, noting that Chinese companies are keen to expand infrastructure and industrial projects in the country. He commended the Punjab Home Department’s role in ensuring peace and protecting foreign workers, especially those engaged in CPEC-linked initiatives.
As part of the visit, the Consul General handed over a bulletproof car to the Punjab Home Department to facilitate the secure movement of Chinese engineers and investors. Both officials also signed an agreement formalizing this security collaboration.
Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javaid Qazi reaffirmed that the safety of Chinese citizens, including workers, engineers, and tourists, remains a top priority for the Punjab government. He added that the Special Protection Unit (SPU) is being further strengthened to enhance security measures for Chinese nationals across the province.
Dr. Qazi also mentioned that the Punjab government has independently provided a bulletproof van to FIEDMC and implemented comprehensive security protocols in all industrial zones. “Our offices are always open for Chinese citizens and officials,” he said, appreciating China’s continuous cooperation.
Zhao Shiren also showed interest in products created under Punjab’s prison reforms initiative, reflecting China’s support for Pakistan’s rehabilitation and vocational training programs.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Chinese Deputy Consul General, Special Secretary Home, and senior members from the Internal Security and Foreign Nationals divisions.
