The China-Pakistan Youth Forum was held at Harbin Engineering University on October 15. The event took place alongside the 6th Exchange Mechanism Conference of the CPEC Consortium of Universities.
Under the theme “The Future of China-Pakistan Cooperation: Interdisciplinary Perspectives,” the forum brought together scholars and students from both countries. Participants explored new ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation through research, education and innovation.
Universities Explore New Areas of Cooperation
The forum followed a hybrid format, with eight online sub-venues hosted by Pakistani universities. More than 120 representatives from over 40 Chinese and Pakistani universities and research institutions attended.
The China Association of Higher Education and Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission guided the event. Harbin Engineering University hosted the forum, while the CPEC Consortium of Universities Secretariat and the university’s College of International Cooperative Education organized it.
Nine scholars from both countries presented their research on CPEC development and higher education collaboration.
Discussions covered scientific and technological innovation, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, overseas education and advanced materials science. Participants also exchanged views on CPEC development, youth engagement and academic partnerships.
Youth Invited to Shape the Next 75 Years
The forum launched a call for papers marking the 75th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations. The initiative invites young researchers from universities in both countries to contribute academic work.
Participants highlighted the role of young people in carrying the longstanding friendship forward. They emphasized that earlier generations built the foundation of bilateral relations, while today’s youth will help shape the next 75 years.
The anniversary provides an opportunity to strengthen academic links and encourage new ideas for future cooperation.
Multidisciplinary Dialogue Across Pakistan
Participating universities represented Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The forum encouraged discussion across a wide range of disciplines. These included political science, international relations, regional studies, materials science, nuclear technology and higher education governance.
This multidisciplinary approach aims to connect academic expertise with shared development priorities and emerging challenges.
CPEC Consortium Supports Long-Term Collaboration
The CPEC Consortium of Universities was jointly initiated by the China Association of Higher Education and Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission in November 2017.
It promotes cooperation between Chinese and Pakistani universities in talent development, scientific research, technology application and cultural exchange.
Through these partnerships, the consortium seeks to provide skilled professionals and research support for CPEC development. The China-Pakistan Youth Forum further strengthens this effort by encouraging young researchers to contribute to bilateral cooperation.
