Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nepali President Ram Chandra Poudel exchanged congratulatory messages on Friday to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal. Reaffirming long-standing ties, both leaders praised the enduring friendship and pledged deeper cooperation in the years ahead.

President Xi emphasized the historic connection between the two nations, rooted in geographic proximity and cultural affinity. He noted that despite changes in global and regional dynamics, China and Nepal have consistently respected each other’s sovereignty, upheld equality, and fostered mutually beneficial cooperation, serving as a model for inter-state relations across different systems and sizes.

Over recent years, China-Nepal ties have witnessed stable growth, with political trust reaching new heights. Xi highlighted the expanding scope of collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and reiterated his commitment to further enhancing strategic cooperation. He expressed willingness to use this diplomatic milestone as a platform to deepen bilateral exchanges and deliver greater benefits to both peoples while promoting peace and development in the region.

President Poudel, in his message, echoed the sentiment of mutual trust and respect that has defined Nepal-China relations since 1955. He acknowledged China as a reliable neighbor and appreciated its unwavering support for Nepal’s development journey, sovereignty, and independence. Reaffirming Nepal’s adherence to the one-China principle, Poudel expressed optimism about advancing cooperation across various sectors.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also exchanged greetings on the occasion. Premier Li emphasized the importance of accelerating high-quality BRI cooperation and expanding engagement in key sectors. Prime Minister Oli, in turn, underscored the nations’ shared commitment to peaceful coexistence and applauded China’s respect for Nepal’s chosen development path.

Looking forward, both countries aim to build on their strategic partnership of ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity, reinforcing their shared vision of peace, progress, and mutual growth.
