Chinese naval vessels, the Type 052D destroyer Yinchuan, Type 071 amphibious ship Jinggangshan, and Type 056A corvette Jingmen, arrived at Malaysia’s Port Klang for the Peace and Friendship-2025 joint exercise. The Malaysian Armed Forces held a grand welcoming ceremony featuring a military band and honour guards.
According to the PLA Southern Theatre Command, all Chinese ground and air units have now reached their designated exercise zones as scheduled. The Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, along with representatives from the Chinese community, businesses, and students, attended the ceremony to welcome the participants.
During their voyage, the Chinese task group conducted various joint drills, including maritime search and rescue, escort missions, and medical support exercises to enhance readiness. Crews also refined coordination procedures and carried out morale-building activities to strengthen tactical and technical capabilities.
The Peace and Friendship-2025 joint exercise, scheduled from October 15 to 23, will involve over 1,000 military personnel from both countries. The drills will take place across land, sea, and air, marking the first inclusion of an air force exchange and seminar in the series.
Experts note that the China-Malaysia joint exercise demonstrates the two nations’ shared commitment to combating piracy, disaster relief, and maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea.
