Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang co-chaired the sixth China-EU High-Level Environment and Climate Dialogue in Beijing on Monday alongside Teresa Ribera, Executive Vice President of the European Commission.
Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Political Bureau, called for deeper China-EU cooperation on environmental and climate issues under the strategic leadership of their top leaders to advance sustainable development both regionally and globally.
He highlighted China’s strong commitment to ecological protection and climate action, citing a range of implemented policies that have led to significant progress in green transformation across the country’s economy and society.
Ding reaffirmed China’s determination to pursue green, low-carbon development and emphasized its active role in global climate governance. He expressed readiness to work closely with the EU to sustain high-level dialogue, build shared understanding, and strengthen the green partnership.
He also proposed enhanced cooperation in areas such as energy transition and circular economy, while jointly supporting green development efforts in other developing nations through mutual benefit and shared success.
Additionally, Ding voiced support for a fair and cooperative global governance system for environmental and climate matters, built on win-win principles.
Teresa Ribera noted that the EU views the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations as an opportunity to reinforce current collaborations, explore new areas of partnership, uphold multilateralism, and push forward the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
