China condemns Israel’s violation of Iran’s sovereignty as the envoy speaks in an emergency meeting at the UN Security Council.
China has condemned Israel for violating Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and called on Israel to immediately stop its dangerous military operations, according to Chinese Ambassador to the UN, Fu Cong, on Friday.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Israel’s strikes against Iran, Fu expressed China’s opposition to the escalation of hostilities and voiced serious concern over the potential consequences of Israel’s actions.
Fu warned that the abrupt rise in regional tensions benefits no party and urged Israel to end all military operations to prevent further escalation. He also called on all involved parties to respect the UN Charter and international law, advocating for political and diplomatic solutions to disputes.
He further noted China’s concern about the adverse effects of the current situation on diplomatic efforts surrounding the Iranian nuclear issue. Fu reiterated China’s consistent stance in favor of resolving the issue through dialogue, rejecting the use of force, unilateral sanctions, or attacks on peaceful nuclear infrastructure.
Highlighting Iran’s status as a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Fu stressed that Iran’s right to peacefully use nuclear energy must be fully upheld.
